Gilbert White is considered the father of ecology and his book The Natural History of Selborne has been in print since 1789. This is a chance to visit his home and garden and lose yourself in the natural world. The museum also houses the Oates Collections, discover the Victorian explorer Frank Oates and learn about Lawrence Oates who faced adversity to reach the South Pole with Scott and made the ultimate sacrifice.
In 2019 the museum are bringing Gilbert White's brew house back to life with a nano-brewery and information about brewing beer in the eighteenth century.
