Brick Lane, Winchester Road, Romsey, Hampshire. SO51 8LG
On our two Heritage Open Days, we understand traffic from the Winchester direction will be diverted as the Sun Arch over the A3090 will be closed. Please follow any diversion signs to arrive in Winchester Road from the Plaza Theatre roundabout. Entrance to Brick Lane is by pedestrian crossing in Winchester Road, midway between Plaza Theatre and railway bridge. Car park for signal box is at far end of Brick Lane. (Don't worry about Private Road signs - please drive through carefully.) Parking is limited: please do NOT park in Brick Lane itself. If you arriving by rail, follow the signs from the steps partway down Station Approach, along the footpath parallal to the railway, and over the small bridge over the old canal.
No wheelchair access into the signal box itself (which is on the first floor up a steep flight of external stairs). However, a monitor in the Buffer Stop Cafe (which does have wheelchair access) displays what is happening in signal box via CCTV. Visitors needing to park right next to the signal box for disability access are advised to telephone beforehand to ensure a parking space can be reserved.
