Winchester City Museum, The Square, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23 9ES
Tales from Winchester's past: folktales, pieces of history with battles and such, squabbles between the people and the Corporation, and more folk-tales! Pick and mix and a lucky dip from a live storyteller! You can even request your favourite story!
So much has happened in Winchester that no one can hope to cover it all. These stories offer a flavour of the past, the way peop21 thought and felt and acted in everyday life, and the way they behaved in specific historical situations, whether these were grand battles or committee squabbles – and at least some of the stories will be ones that you already know, because you heard them as a child.
● Saturday 21 September: Storytelling sessions will be taking place every half-hour between 1300-1600.
No booking required. Each session will last about 20 minutes-unless the listeners would like it to be a bit longer… Storytellers can seldom resist a request from an enthusiastic audience!
The first floor is accessible to wheelchairs but there is a limit on space.
