Winchester's Military Quarter located within the Peninsula Barracks is something rather unique with its six museums and Heritage Open Days provides a wonderful opportunity to explore some of them for free. Why not visit and learn about the courage of the Gurkha soldiers and discover the culture of Nepal, or be amazed at the 21,500 model soldiers telling the story of the Battle of Waterloo or find out about Hussars, the real war horses and the tanks that replaced them. 

Expected opening hours/times are as follows, please though check the museum websites for the latest information.
Saturday 21st :

The Gurkha Museum 10am -5pm 
The Royal Green Jackets (Rifles) Museum 10am – 5pm 
HorsePower, The Museum of the King's Royal Hussars 12-4pm

Sunday 22nd:

The Royal Green Jackets (Rifles) Museum 11am-4pm
HorsePower, The Museum of the King's Royal Hussars 12-4pm

Peninsula Barracks is situated adjacent to the Great Hall. The entrance to the site is on the left hand side on the Romsey Road, approximately 100 metres up the hill from the Westgate.
