Piecaramba, 11A Parchment Street, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23 8AT
During the 1940’s the property of 11 Parchment Street was owned and run by Fred and Joy Broomfield as a pie shop and café. Joy would make the pies one side and Fred the café. This pie shop was a popular place to visit during the second world war, with queues reportedly down the street for pies!
Spring forward 70 years later and, and in a wonderful case of serendipity, Piecaramba! was opened in the same location, 11a Parchment Street.
We will be showcasing a gallery of photographs from the time, as well as presenting a photographic history of the humble pie.
In honour of Heritage Open Days, we will also create a new pie for visitors to buy, incorporating a mix of traditional and contemporary flavours to reflect both eras.
