The Old Fire Station, 54 Broad Street, Alresford, Hampshire, SO24 9AN
The Museum in the olld Fire Station is newly created, and the original idea was to create an exhibition and display area for local historical artefacts, but then when the opportunity arose of housing a local vintage fire engine in the old fire station, the plans changed!
The handover of the fire engine by Hampshire Fire Station and the Hampshire Police & Fire Heritage Trust took place on 18th August 2018 with Fire Officers, past & present, in attendance. The Merryweather was handed over at Pound Hill Fire Station and then made its way in a procession led by modern day Police vehicles and Fire appliances through Alresford to its new home.
Work is ongoing to prepare additional displays to complement the Merryweather and to open the museum to the general public, so this is a wonderful opportunity to see the fire engine whilst that work continues.
