The Brickworks Museum, Swanwick Lane, Swanwick, SO31 7HB
The Brickworks is wonderful in so many ways – the red brick building with lime washed walls, welcoming and knowledgeable volunteers, marvellous machinery, quirky collections, and a whole range of authentic sights, sounds and smells.
The only remaining steam-driven brickworks in the country you can walk in the footsteps of our Victorian forefathers. The factory is a very lucky survivor which for some reason was never updated during its working life.
The museum has taken part in the national Heritage Open Days scheme for several years and it is always a pleasure showing people round this complex site.
This year we are working with Southampton and District Transport Heritage Trust to provide both transport links with the local station and a mystery tour. All for free!!
The café will be open for refreshments and there is ample parking, so come and join us. A perfect day out for the family!
