Join us for Winchester Cathedral’s Open Evening which is proud to be part of Heritage Open Days

Meet the staff and volunteers who work in every aspect of the day to day running of the Cathedral, from the stonemasons and flower arrangers to the Holy Dusters and the Bell Ringers.

The Open Evening offers a special opportunity to explore the Cathedral by night.

There will be an opportunity to hear the Cathedral Choir and (weather permitting) a chance to explore the Old Minster which is not normally accessible to the public.

There will also be guided tours and Tower tours available on the evening (subject to availability). These will need to be booked on arrival.

Opening Times

Thursday 19 September: From 18:30 (all are welcome to attend Evensong beforehand at 17:30)

All are welcome but Tower tours are subject to availability and limited to groups of 12. Please note suitable footwear is recommended for viewing Old Minster as grass and brick surfaces plus short incline.

Cathedral is open 18.30 to 20.30 and your visit would typically require 60-90 minutes
