University of Winchester, West Downs Quarter on Romsey Road, Winchester, Hampshire, SO22 5HT
Join us for a guided tour through the Cosmic Walk, a garden space dedicated to the unfolding story of the cosmos and our relationship with the divine. PRE-BOOKING ESSENTIAL
Designed by Professor Lisa Isherwood, this garden space aims to physically situate Christian Theology within the new Cosmology. It is a theological attempt to place our feet in the unfolding story of the cosmos and from there to reflect upon that which we call the Divine.
As we walk through the garden we hope that we begin to understand more deeply our participation in the birth and unfolding of the universe. This walk will be accompanied not just by the mind maps and tools of theology but also with quantum physics, cosmology, mythology and each breath we take.
Visitors are encouraged to also visit the West Downs Centre where they will find two specially curated Exhibitions - the first in Room 7 explores the contribution of female theologians and eco-feminists to environmental and ecological movements from around the world , whilst the second in the Links Gallery shares the history of the University of Winchester. Please see separate entries for more information on both exhibitions.
Visitors who have booked on the tours are welcome to continue to explore the Cosmic Walk after the tours as QR tags within the garden link to a new Cosmic Walk website providing supporting information.
