Why not join us for this popular and fascinating tour of the museums stores at Chilcomb House and on the Bar End Industrial Estate on Friday 14 September 2018.
It will also be possible to visit the conservation studios and workshop at Chilcomb. The stores hold a wide range of items from our Tasker steam engines and Thornycroft lorries to historic dress, fine art, archaeology and natural history.
Since 1 November 2014 Hampshire Cultural Trust has been managing the museums services and collections formerly operated by Hampshire County Council and Winchester City Council. Heritage Open Days provide the ideal opportunity for members of the public go behind the scenes and see first-hand the invaluable work the Trust does with both the Hampshire and Winchester collections.
● Friday 14 September: Tours starting at 0930 and 1330
Tour involves visit to two separate locations with approx. 10 walk between sites. Parking available at main site where tour starts, limited parking, if required, at second location. Part of one store can only be accessed by stairs.
Max 20 people per tour/session. Tours take approximately 3 hours.
Access to site is via Chilcomb Lane off Bar End Road. Do not park on Chilcomb Lane, HOD parking signposted on main site at the end of the lane. Meet in reception, clearly signposted.
