The Great Hall, The Castle, Castle Avenue, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23 8UJ
Pop in to The Great Hall for a musical performance with a difference. There will be four musicians in period costume playing Tudor music on a vast array of period instruments. They will also be songs and dances.
Enjoy the sounds of Tudor instruments played by the costumed musicians of Courtlye Musick. Secular music and gentle love songs for the court and nobility, played on stringed instruments and recorders, will contrast with robust songs, dances and outdoor music that would have been played by the ‘Town Waits’ at festivals and grand occasions, played on shawms, cornett, sackbuts and crumhorns. As the sounds of the fascinating collection of instruments resound through the Great Hall, be prepared to be transported back in time.
● Friday 14 September: 1300-1430
