Wessex Film & Sound Archive will be showcasing its new ‘Archive Film for Reminiscence project’ – pop down to the Mobile Cinema Tent in the Record Office garden between 11-3pm to glimpse some of the gems that have made the cut. No booking necessary
Wessex Film and Sound Archive is launching a brand new pilot scheme using local archive film for reminiscence activities to help those living with dementia.
As part of British Film Institute (BFI) funded work, the pilot year of the scheme will make these engaging films available free of charge to Hampshire care homes and voluntary sector organisations.
The newly compiled DVDs, containing montages of life aspects such as work, home, holidays and school, will be available for loan for reminiscence work for care homes and voluntary sector organisations from September 2018.
There are many benefits of reminiscence therapies – the process of engaging with sights, sounds, tastes and smells of the past is known for triggering long-term memories, particularly in people with dementia.
At this Heritage Open Day event we will be showcasing the project in the Mobile Cinema Tent, in the Hampshire Record Office garden.
● Saturday 15 September: 1100-1500
