Winchester College - guided tour of the Fellows’ Library

  • Winchester College College Street Winchester, SO23 9NA England (map)

Winchester College, College Street, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23 9NA

Books have been central to the School since its foundation and we have volumes given by William of Wykeham in the 1380s, including a life of Thomas Becket by William of Canterbury, with one of the earliest representations of Becket, and a late fourteenth century copy of Ranulf Higden's Polychronicon. Over the centuries there have been many major gifts, and indeed only a relatively small percentage of the collection has been purchased.

This tour is a wonderful opportunity to see some of our collection, and to see the rooms which now house the collection but were once part of the lodgings of the Warden and Fellows who are the Governing Body of Winchester College.
