Hyde Tavern, 57 Hyde Street, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23 7DY
If you’re a local, you will know that the Hyde Tavern’s quiz evenings are legendary. Gather together a team of 3-6 friends and sign up to take part in this specially organised quiz for Heritage Open Days. Last year's quiz was such fun!
Hosted by BBC2 Egghead, Kevin Ashman, the quiz will focus on all aspects of our heritage – local, national, people and places - and it is bound to feature an extraordinary woman or two, in this centenary year of women in engineering and law.
The Hyde Tavern was established as long ago as the 12th Century, at the time of the foundation of Hyde Abbey. Nowadays it is a vibrant community hub, home to inclusive and creative regular events, cask ales, impromptu folk-sessions, pie competitions, story-telling nights, beer festivals, charity events, writers’ workshops, art exhibitions and established international live music acts.
