Join us for this fascinating talk and tour of Hampshire’s archaeological collections stores.
This is a unique chance to peek behind-the-scenes and meet the team who manage the collections cared for by Hampshire Cultural Trust.
Since 2014, the Hampshire Cultural Trust has been managing the museums services and collections owned by Hampshire County Council and Winchester City Council. Heritage Open Days provide the ideal opportunity for members of the public go behind the scenes and see first-hand the invaluable work the Trust does with both the Hampshire’s and Winchester’s collections.
Monday 16 September: Guided Tour 1400-1530
Required. Booking essential to ensure a place on the tour. Please note that it is not suitable for those aged under 5 years of age and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
There is good access to the ground floor of the store. However, the first floor is only accessible via stairs. Also, the stores are not designed for public access. Visitors to the stores will need to wear appropriate footwear and be able to navigate uneven floors, narrow spaces and possible trip hazards.
Max 20 people per tour/session. Tour will last around 90 minutes.
We will provide more detailed directions to confirmed visitors nearer the date. Do note there is very limited parking available on site, so visitors are strongly encouraged to use the nearby Park & Ride facilities which are only a 5-10 minutes’ walk away.
