Wolvesey Castle, College Street, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23 9NB
Wolvesey Castle is owned by English Heritage and is the ruined medieval palace of the Bishops of Winchester. Winchester Tourist Guides are offering two guided tours of the site, each lasting approx. 1 hour.
The tours are designed to bring the ruins to life and to tell the stories of some of the famous people associated with the Castle – kings, queens and bishops.
● Saturday 21 September: Two tours - 1130 and 1400
Site is free to explore but tours must be pre-booked, not suitable for those under 7 years.
Tour approx 1 hour, free to explore site after or before tour.
Surfaces are gravel and grass, uneven and can be muddy. There are a few wooden steps to access the main part of the site and further steps to view some of the features. No facilities on site. The site belongs to English Heritage and is open without entrance charge 10am to 5pm until the end of October.
