The 2020 Festival

Winchester Heritage Open Days took place 11th to 20th September, and was a little bit different because of Covid-19! However thanks to the enthusiasm and willingness of so many local people and organisations we were able to put on yet another amazing programme of talks, tours, exhibitions and other events for you all to enjoy.

There were around 70 events taking place in our fifth festival year, including our podcast channel - Hampshire Histbites - and special programmes by Winchester College, the University of Winchester and Hampshire Cultural Trust. You can view our festival programme here.

Most of the 2020 events took place online as there was (and still is!) so much uncertainty surrounding Covid-19. Digital events included pre-recorded walks and talks, live streaming of lectures and performances, and specially commissioned films and audio. Our in person events included workshops, walking tours, brewery tours and open days.

Many of the festival films are still available via our 2020 Festival Playlist, and you can read our review of the festival here.

If you made a tile at the festival in September, we have been advised by Hyde900 that the tiles made by over 80 tilemakers have now been glazed and fired. As soon as COVID-19 regulations allow you will be able to collect your tiles from a central Winchester location. The Hyde900 team will contact you either by email or phone once collections can take place. Should you wish to contact them earlier their email and telephone number can be found on their website.
