Edible England Exhibition

Where does our food come from? Join us as we explore the history behind some of our local fare and take a look at certain food brands which have become household names over the years.

Hampshire's varied landscape and diverse growing conditions have always brought with it a rich and tempting mix of produce from coast to forest, rivers to valleys and heath to weald. Sheep, pigs, honey, strawberries, trout, hops, wheat, watercress and vines, are just some of the ingredients on the county's historical larder list.

Additionally, Winchester boasts one of the largest Farmers' Markets in the country and the city is often referred to as the foodie capital of Hampshire with its fine dining, pubs, cafes, eateries and specialist food shops. With Hampshire Fare celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, we find out more about the work it does as well as the history behind some of the foods and well-known brands that are available locally and nationally.

Thanks to Cllr Dominic Hiscock, Hampshire County Council and the Councillor Grants Scheme for their support in enabling us to take this exhibition online
