Welcome to Winchester’s favourite heritage festival!
Friday 13th to Sunday 22nd September 2019
It's fun, IT’s fabulous and it is all FREE!
Every September, supported by Winchester College and other local organisations, local volunteers organise over 100 events to celebrate our fantastic history, architecture and cultural heritage. Whether you and your family live in Winchester or further afield this is your chance to discover hidden places, hear fascinating and unusual stories, learn new skills and try out new experiences.
It is Heritage Open Day’s 25th anniversary this year, and to celebrate we have even more guided walks, expert talks, live music and theatre as well as new buildings opening their doors for you to discover. Our two themes are ‘Food & Drink’ and ‘People Power’, and every tour, lecture, activity, creative workshop, bike ride and exhibit is completely free.
With these two fabulous themes and all the anniversary celebrations it is not surprisingly there are nearly 150 events taking place this year in and around Winchester. There is something for every age and every interest in the programme, plus this year the festival lasts a full ten days from Friday 13th to Sunday 22nd September.
