It is thanks to the support and commitment of our local community that in 2019 it attracted nearly 25,000 attendances, and 2020, a pandemic year, more than 13,000 online visits.

Winchester Heritage Open Days are organised by Hampshire History Trust, a registered charity. Hampshire History Trust is a voluntary organisation committed to community participation in history and heritage. We rely on the generous support of individuals, trusts and foundations, companies, and local authority grants so that we can offer an exciting programme of events and improving access to heritage for all.

Nationally Heritage Open Days is coordinated by the National Trust with support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery. At grass roots level the festival is organised by over 2,000 organisations and some 46,000 volunteers who share a passion for places, history and culture. Attracting over 2 million visitors every year, Heritage Open Days is England’s biggest voluntary cultural event.
