Ballard School was once home to the Ubsdell family, designed in the early 1900s. Our main school building and grounds still retain typical period features including many original Arts and Crafts items, despite having been a school and an army base.
Ballard school opens its doors to its 34 acre estate. Our main Ballard School building was built as a country residence for the Ubsdell family in the early 1900s and still has many typical period features from the day. Visitors will have a guided tour of the rooms and period features of the Arts and Crafts movement, which include various Teale fireplaces and original Dressler and de Morgan tiles. Tours will be led by staff and alumni of the school who have a particular interest in the Great Ballard Estate, the Ubsdell family and local history. The dedicated Heritage Room includes plaques and photographs depicting the journey of Ballard from a country estate to a modern, thriving school. We would love to welcome you to unlock Ballard's many hidden treasures.
