Step inside Stansted House and learn more about Lady Charlotte Schreiber, a fascinating figure of the Victorian era.
A devoted linguist and philanthropist, Last Charlotte Schreiber was one of the most important collectors in England in the 19th Century. During her second marriage to Charles Schreiber, she travelled around Europe and amassed an extensive collection of ceramics, fans and playing cards. She eventually donated her collection of British ceramics to the Victoria and Albert Museum whilst her playing cards and fans were given to the British Museum.
During this special Heritage Open Days event, you will have the opportunity to see her catalogues, drawings, and other books up close as well as the chance to view items of furniture that were inherited by her daughter Blanche Ponsonby, Countess of Bessborough.
