The Hospital of St Cross & Almshouse of Noble Poverty

  • Porters Lodge, St. Cross Road, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23 9SD (map)

Join us for Heritage Open Day at the Hospital of St Cross & Almshouse of Noble Poverty.

This is a 900-year-old Medieval Heritage Site. To really experience the full beauty and grandiose of our heritage site please visit and marvel at the architectural wonder that is all around.

We are also offering a free Blue Badge Tour (bookable) that looks at the links architecturally, and many other aspects between Winchester Cathedral and the Hospital’s magnificent sized Chapel.

Enjoy our very popular Hundred Mens Hall Tearooms with a delicious range of cakes and exceptional coffee, as well as supreme posh pasties and tantalising sausage rolls.

Peruse our fabulous intimate Porters Lodge shop and pick up a site specific gem to take home with you as a lovely reminder of your day.

Last but not lease, please knock on the Porters lodge door and ask for your Wayfarer’s Dole. This will include a morsel of tasty bread and a beaker of local medieval ale. What more could you ask for in a day!

We are looking forward to seeing you!

Parking may be limited, so please look at our website when planning your journey.
